Farida x John Cruz | JC1 Custom Shop Relic Electric Guitar

The Farida JC-1 is the result of a direct collaboration between Farida Guitars, 31 years in the craft, and legendary master builder Mr. John Cruz. SSS configuration, JC's signature relic finish, and a co-developed pickup system built to chase the sound of the early 60s.

Wood Selection

• Every body blank is personally weighed by John Cruz — he selects only the blanks that match his exact target weight
• Each blank is tap-tested by hand: JC listens to the resonant voice of the wood before deciding which body makes the cut

Neck & Playability

• Neck profile: Medium C — shaped for comfort across long playing sessions
• Fingerboard edges rolled by hand — no sharp corners anywhere along the length of the neck
• Every single fret individually rounded and polished until barely perceptible under your fingers
• Back of neck: smooth, uninterrupted — your palm glides without catching

Pickups & Electronics

• SSS pickup configuration — 3 single-coil pickups
• JC F.A. 60's Pickup System — voiced after a 1960s style, wound by a former John Cruz colleague to his exact specifications
• 5-way blade switch — upgraded from a standard 3-way
• Master tone control at the middle position — works across all five switch settings
• Blend pot in positions 1 and 5: blend in the neck or bridge pickup on demand for a classic TL-style tone
• Blend in positions 2 and 4: engage all three pickups simultaneously
• Result: 7–8 distinct usable tones from a single guitar

Body & Hardware

• Body: Alder
• Frets: Medium nickel-silver, individually rounded and polished
• Tuners: Vintage-style

Finish & Relic

• Finish: Nitrocellulose lacquer
• Relic aging: Hand-applied by John Cruz — informed by years of photographing and documenting real wear on decades-old guitars (pick guard wear, body edge wear)
• Light aging: the guitar looks and feels already broken in, but the rest of the story is yours to write
• Each guitar carries an individual Farida Custom Shop serial number
